Lowering America's expectations two cents at a time Lowering America's expectations two cents at a time

After today’s ordeal, driving 30 miles to a store that wasn’t open, I continued my errands by heading down to Costco and Walmart. To avoid traffic I took one long road that pretty much covers the entire county, driving way far south to go to where my prescription was, passing other Walmarts on the way.

I drove 30 miles for what? I drove 30 miles for what?

No, not the lunch. Lunch was delicious. I figured that, since I was this far from home I might as well consol myself with a good meal.

Can we have a temperament test for cars over 175 HP? Can we have a temperament test for cars over 175 HP?

Whilst cruising down the freeway this afternoon I got stuck behind an STI camped out in the left lane with miles of open road in front of him. When the opportunity presented itself I politely moved over a lane and continued my drive. Well, 20-something vaping dudebro seemed to take major offense to this.

Yeah, that'll help... Yeah, that'll help...

Almost done Almost done

I think it’s just about done, and it should be good to go for another 47 years. I do need to go to the basement and find the sliding door and find out if I have enough wood to make another shelf for the left side. I would have to splice together a couple of pieces to get the correct width, and that would be a tad…

I'm getting really tired of micro USB I'm getting really tired of micro USB

Yet another cable has failed. Not completely, but enough to be annoying. On one, the tangs that keep it locked in place don’t work so it just falls out. On another two, they click on but don’t always make connection and they have to be jiggled and coerced into working. After plugging in my tablet overnight I found…

Yet another computer, destined to be the new media server once I finish the stereo bench and set up the TV. It’s a Xeon-based workstation with 32gb of RAM and was only $150. Unlike my past HP experiments, I should be able to upgrade the power supply relatively easily...

Finishing, but not finished. Today I applied a wood restorer and now it’s looking a bit better. There’s still a little sanding to do on the top portion and the internal shelves, followed by polishing up those parts.

So incredibly cute. From the latest episode of Jay Leno’s Garage. One of the few times I actually like whitewall tires on a car.

My Parent's Cars My Parent's Cars

No particular order, because, well, Kinja, but you get the idea. Some winners and some lapses in judgment (*cough* Ford *cough*). Many of these became mine (Dasher, 320i, 525i), although not any of the really cool ones. The ‘Stang almost became my first car, but I lucked out and got the Dasher instead. Wish I could…

I visited a friend yesterday, the one who is dying of uterine cancer. She wanted to borrow an iPad so that she could write a few farewell letters to friends and family whilst in hospital. I’ve got a few of these devices so I had no problem cleaning one off and letting her use it for as long as she needs it. We spent a…

Not enough green interiors in this world. Or brown. My first car had a brown interior, and other than singeing my legs on hot SoCal days, I liked it.

Wagons, red interiors and W126s. But when you combine all three?
